Set up a developer account

To be able to sideload applications to your Meta Quest device, you must belong to an organization and have a verified developer account in the Oculus developer center.

Follow the instructions on Meta’s documentation on how to set up and verify a developer account.

Enable developer mode in the Meta Quest Developer Hub

1. Download the Meta Quest Developer Hub from the Oculus Developer Center.
2. Turn on your Meta Quest device.
3. Connect to a Wi-Fi network and get the latest updates.
4. Once the headset has been updated, restart it.
5. Open the Meta Quest Developer Hub and log in using your developer account.
6. Click the Set up New Device button and choose your device (if you have several devices, you can use the serial number found on the left side of the headset to identify which device you want to connect).
7. Turn on Enable Developer Mode when prompted.
8. Connect your Meta Quest device with a USB-A (≥ 3.0) to USB-C cable to your computer. Do not use the cable included in the Meta Quest sales box, as it does not work.
9. When you see a notification about enabling debugging mode, select Allow to turn on debugging mode.

Install the Varjo Reality Cloud application

Once you have enabled developer mode in the Meta Quest Developer Hub, follow these steps to sideload the Varjo Reality Cloud application:

1. Download the Varjo Reality Cloud Meta Quest .apk file from the Varjo Account Portal.
2. Open the Device Manager tab in Meta Quest Developer Hub.
3. Drag and drop the .apk file into the Connected Device field. Alternatively, you can click on the Add build button and choose the file using file explorer.
4. Once installed, go to the App library in your headset and open the drop-down menu at the top right of your screen.
5. Select Other sources -> Varjo Reality Cloud for Meta Quest.
