Connecting a cable pair

XR-4 comes with a pair of 5 m (16 ft) cables that are used to connect the headset to your computer. You can replace the standard cable pair with a longer 15 m (49 ft) cable pair available in Varjo Store.

Only use Varjo-supplied cables to connect your headset. We cannot guarantee full functionality when using other cables.

Before you start, disconnect the headset from all other devices.

Overview

Included with the 15 m cable pair are the headset cables (Display cable, USB-C data cable), a T6 allen key, spare screws (x6+1), and cable clips (x25).

Disconnecting the standard cable pair

Disconnect the standard cable pair from your headset as follows:

Step 1.

Remove the face cushion. Make sure not to grab the cushion frame as this is attached with glue.

Step 2.

Push the field-of-view adjustment button and set it to its minimum position so that the screw in the zoomed-in picture becomes visible from the hole.

Step 3.

Unscrew the screws from both sides.

Step 4.

Gently lift the protective cover off of the headset using your hands.

Step 5.

Unscrew and detach both cable clamps from the headset.

Step 6.

Disconnect both cables from the headset.

Step 7.

Unscrew and detach the cable clamp on the left side of the headband. Remove the cables from the cable holder on the back of the headset.

Connecting the 15 m cable pair

Connect the 15 m cable pair to your headset as follows:

Step 8.

Connect the 15 m data cable to the slot with the lightning symbol, and the display cable to the slot with the DisplayPort symbol.

Note: the symbol on the display cable corresponds to the icon on top of the correct slot on the headset.

Step 9.

Attach both cable clamps to the headset.

Note: make sure to set the display cable on top of the data cable in the clamp before attaching the cable clamp, as shown in the picture.

Do not overtighten the screws.

Step 10.

Slide the front of the protective cover in place first and make sure the cables align with the hole on the protective cover.

Step 11.

Press the protective cover in place on all sides until you hear an audible click sound. The cover is correctly in place when there are no gaps visible.

Step 12.

Fasten the screws on both sides of the headset.

Do not overtighten the screws.

Step 13.

Attach the face cushion. Make sure to align the center pin and both sides so that the cushion covers the hook-and-loop strips entirely.

Step 14.

Reattach the cables to the left side of the headband with the cable clamp. Fasten the cable clamp with screws. Hook the cables behind the cable holder on the back of the headset.

Do not overtighten the screws.

Step 15.

Tie the cables together along their length using the supplied cable clips. Leave a space of 50 cm (20 in) between clips.
