IC.IDO Now Natively Supports Varjo XR-4 Series

Varjo IC.IDO supportOctober 3, 2024 – Helsinki, FinlandEngineers and designers can now unlock even greater potential in process validation workflows, as ESI Group’s industry-leading engineering and manufacturing software, IC.IDO, has announced full native support for the Varjo XR-4 Series.

With its latest 2024.1 update, IC.IDO integrates Varjo’s advanced virtual and mixed reality capabilities, including support for both inside-out tracking and SteamVR tracked headset variants. The latest release also adds support for Varjo controllers, allowing for more precise and intuitive interaction within immersive environments.

By harnessing the power of mixed reality in IC.IDO, users can now seamlessly blend physical and virtual worlds with unmatched precision. For example, with the XR-4 Series, engineers and designers can interact with virtual models using Varjo controllers, while also seeing their own hands, bodies, and colleagues within the immersive environment. This enhanced interaction adds a new level of realism and control in design and process reviews, offering a more intuitive and efficient workflow.

“The ability to see and use your hands, as well as interact with synthetic content using Varjo controllers, is critical for engineers to truly connect with their virtual environment. It brings the virtual experience closer to reality,” said Miika Jokinen, Director of Software Partnerships at Varjo. “The native support for advanced interactions within IC.IDO, combined with the XR-4’s high visual fidelity and comfort, creates a powerful tool for engineering teams to refine and validate their processes.”

“Varjo XR-4 Series takes virtual and mixed reality to new heights, allowing engineers to identify and solve complex challenges in human-performed tasks more quickly and accurately than ever before. The integration of IC.IDO and Varjo means participants in human-centric process reviews can interact naturally with their environment, testing future products and processes in real-world contexts,” said Eric Kam, Product Marketing Manager at ESI Group.
