Varjo Base 4.11 Release Notes

Varjo Base 4.11 continues our mission to deliver powerful, user-driven upgrades that make working in XR smarter and smoother. This release brings several long-requested capabilities to the forefront.

Key highlights of the update include:

  • Upload your own blend control masks directly to Varjo Base

  • Export and import configuration files of Varjo Base settings for streamlined setup across multiple devices

  • Significantly improved hand tracking performance

  • A new Applications panel for launching pinned and recent apps straight from the headset

  • Full-screen headset mirroring for presentations and showcases

  • General bug fixes and stability improvements

Together, these updates make Varjo Base more customizable, more adaptable, and more efficient, especially in large-scale or collaborative environments.

Load custom blend control masks in Varjo Base

You can now upload blend control masks created in Varjo Lab Tools directly into Varjo Base. This update eliminates the need to run the Lab Tools application in the background, improving performance and simplicity.

This is particularly valuable for system integrators and simulation professionals, enabling them to build and use high-performance masks without needing changes from the application or image generator developer. This results in better rendering efficiency, easier testing, and fewer support dependencies.

Hand tracking that feels smoother and more responsive

Our integrated Varjo hand tracking (Beta) continues to evolve. In 4.11, you’ll notice a significant reduction in gesture lag and improved accuracy across core interactions, including pinching, grasping, aiming, and poking.

This release also addresses a stuttering issue that occurred when hand tracking or depth estimation was active while using the Analytics window resulting in a much smoother headset experience overall.

Export and import Varjo Base settings

Varjo Base 4.11 introduces the ability to save your current Varjo base settings (such as headset exposure levels) into a configuration file, which can be loaded on another machine or used to switch between setups.

This feature is especially useful for teams managing multiple workstations, training environments, or specialized rendering setups.

You can now create and maintain different settings profiles—for example:
• Optimized VST for dark rooms
• Different rendering profiles per application
• Custom lighting profiles for MR scenes

And just like before, you can still tweak settings manually at any time after loading a file.

Launch apps and share your view more easily

We’ve made Varjo Base even more user-friendly with two new UI features:

Applications panel in Varjo Workspace – Access your pinned or recently used apps directly inside the headset, streamlining workflows and making it easier to launch into sessions. You can also disable this feature if needed.

Full-screen headset view mirror – One of our most-requested features is now live. You can now mirror the view from the headset in full screen, making it ideal for training sessions, exhibitions, or live demonstrations where trainers or other users need to follow the experience.

With each release, Varjo Base evolves to better meet the needs of our most demanding users. Whether you’re building cutting-edge training simulations, showcasing immersive demos, or developing enterprise applications, we build features that help you work faster and smarter.

As always, we welcome your feedback—especially on new capabilities like hand tracking and configuration file support. Try out Varjo Base 4.11 and let us know how it fits into your workflow.
