Varjo Launches Teleport 2.0: A Generational Leap in Photorealistic 3D Capture for Creators

Now any camera, from a smartphone to a drone, can create ultra high-fidelity 3D worlds, without the need for specialized hardware or software

Helsinki, Finland – April 24, 2025 – Varjo, a global leader in industrial-grade, photorealistic VR/XR hardware and software, today announced Teleport 2.0, a major upgrade to its spatial capture platform that delivers a generational leap in 3D capture fidelity and creative capability for professional users.

Until now, content creators were confronted with a trade-off: use accessible, cloud-based scanning tools with limited quality, or invest in complex photogrammetry setups and manual desktop workflows. Teleport 2.0 removes that compromise, combining best-in-class visual quality with the simplicity of a fully automated, cloud-based pipeline – all accessible with any camera.

Powered by enterprise-grade GPU processing and the latest advancements in Gaussian Splatting reconstruction, Teleport 2.0 matches the fidelity of high-end photogrammetry technology, while drastically accelerating the workflow and lowering the barrier to entry.

“With Teleport 2.0, creators no longer have to choose between the ease of consumer-grade scanning apps, or the visual fidelity of expert photogrammetry hardware and software,” said Patrick Wyatt, Chief Product Officer at Varjo. “We’re delivering best-in-class visual quality, fully automated cloud processing, and the flexibility and control that professional work demands.”

New capabilities in Teleport 2.0:

  • Upgraded 3D reconstruction engine: Preserves real-world detail, even in large-scale scenes. Large scenes can be captured in minutes and automatically processed without manual steps.
  • Support for any camera: Capture with phones, drones, DSLRs, or other imaging devices.
  • Tools for creating engaging immersive experiences: Build virtual tours, or link multiple scans together to build massive explorable digital twins.

Teleport’s performance sets a new standard for professional 3D capture. On large-scale projects, the platform processes thousands of images on high-powered cloud GPUs, enabling the creation of richly detailed digital twins. This makes Teleport an ideal solution for professionals surveying sites with drones or capturing larger indoor spaces.

Additionally, users retain full ownership and control over their 3D creations and can freely import and export data. Unlike many consumer-grade scanning apps, Teleport does not opt users’ data into generative AI training.

Christophe Hitié, a 3D creator who specialises in digitizing urban art, said “Teleport lets me forget about manual tweaking and endless software updates. I upload, it processes, and I come back to spectacular, professional-quality scenes, leaving me free to capture more places and worry less”

Teleport 2.0 is available starting today. Users can create and share up to five 3D scenes with a free account, while expanded capabilities are available through Teleport’s Professional Plan for €29.99/month. To learn more or start creating with Teleport 2.0, visit teleport.varjo.com.
