Helsinki, Finland – November 25, 2024 – Varjo, the global leader in industrial-grade virtual and mixed reality hardware and software, today announced the general availability of Teleport by Varjo, the first service to offer ultra high-resolution 3D scanning using just a smartphone. Starting today, Teleport is available for both professional and individual users for €29.99 per month.

The commercial launch concludes a closed beta period during which Varjo worked with around 2,000 professionals and enterprises to develop and optimize the solution. Beta-testers were able to capture places with just 5–10 minutes of scanning, much faster than the hours or days needed for standard photogrammetry workflows.

“Today, we are proud to release Teleport, the most visually impressive 3D scanning solution publicly available, and the only one able to bring digital twins directly into virtual reality. This service will change the way professionals work, making it easier than ever to capture, share, and analyze real-world places,” said Patrick Wyatt, Chief Product Officer at Varjo.

Powered by generative models trained on NVIDIA GPUs, Teleport enables the creation of photorealistic digital twins, by synthesizing high-definition 3D scenes out of photos taken on a smartphone. Once a place is captured using Teleport, it can then be viewed on a phone, PC, or experienced in full virtual reality. This new service radically reduces the time and complexity traditionally associated with digitizing real-world places, enabling 3D scanning new workflows in fields such as design, remote inspection, construction, and training.
