With the release of Varjo Base 4.15, we’re introducing a new way of delivering updates through two release channels; Release Candidates and Main releases.

This change is a response to how Varjo Base is actually used today. Our customers rely on it in environments that are often complex, integrated, and highly specific. While we test extensively, there is always a gap between internal validation and real-world use. At the same time, many teams want access to improvements earlier, especially when those changes can enhance their workflows directly.
The new release channels are a way for us to be more deliberate about that balance.
The first Release Candidate for Varjo Base 4.15 is now available to download. It is a feature complete, internally tested version of the software, but more importantly, it is ready to be used in real environments. This stage is about understanding how the release behaves outside of our own setups, where variables are harder to predict and edge cases are more likely to appear. It allows us to identify and address issues that only emerge in those conditions before moving forward.
The Main release of Varjo Base 4.15 will follow in approximately a month. This remains the version we recommend for all users. By that point, it has gone through both internal testing and real-world validation, and reflects a level of stability that professional use requires.

For some teams, the Release Candidate will be the right choice. It offers earlier access and a chance to validate changes within your own setup. For others, the Main release continues to be the most reliable option. Both are equally important parts of the same process.
From Varjo Base 4.15 onwards, you can choose which release channel to follow directly in the application, under Settings, Support, and Software updates. This gives you control over how early you want to adopt new updates.
If you choose to use the Release Candidate, your feedback is an important part of that process. It helps ensure that what we ship works as expected in the environments it is built for.
