Why this matters
From January 1, 2026, your third-generation Varjo headset will no longer receive functional or security updates, and compatibility with future Windows versions, NVIDIA GPU drivers, SteamVR, and other software cannot be guaranteed. Customer and developer support for Gen 3 devices will also end. Additionally, hardware out-of-warranty repairs will no longer be available, meaning that after support ends, any hardware issues may not be serviceable.
Your headset will still operate with your current setup and any Varjo Base versions released before the end of 2025 — but to ensure your workflows remain uninterrupted, it’s important to plan ahead.
Your options moving forward
1. Extended Compatibility Package
Purchase extended compatibility coverage until January 1, 2028, which includes:
- Ongoing compatibility with SteamVR, NVIDIA drivers, and current major Windows versions
- Critical security patches
- Support limited to these three areas of compatibility
Please note, this package does not include new Varjo Base features, general technical support, or updates beyond these areas.
2. Upgrade to the XR-4 Series
