Marketplace Plugin

This is a guide for migrating your existing Unreal project to your Varjo headset using the Varjo Unreal plugin found in Unreal marketplace. If for some reason you cannot install the plugin from the Marketplace, you can do it manually by following the Manual plugin installation guide.

1. Install SteamVR

Download and install from the Steam page 

2. Install Varjo Base

3. Install Epic Launcher

4. Install UE 4.23

Open Epic Launcher. 

Go to the Unreal Engine tab.

Install UE 4.23. 

5. Install Varjo plugin from Marketplace

In the Epic launcher navigate to the Unreal Engine tab, select marketplace and search for “Varjo” to find a plugin for adding it to your UE installation. The direct link for the browser is found here.

6. Start Unreal engine

Launch Unreal Engine 4.23 

7. Open your project

Open your UE project.

8. Enable Varjo plugin

From “Edit”->”Plugins, From “Installed”->”Virtual Reality”, enable the Varjo plugin. Press “Restart Now” to apply changes. 

9. Disable SteamVR plugin

From ”Built-In”, “Virtual Reality”, disable SteamVR plugin, to make sure that the content runs against the Varjo Runtime. Click “Restart Now” to apply changes. 

10. Run the project

To run on the headset or in Varjo software emulator, select “Play”“VR Preview” 

11. Check the Performance and Visual Quality guidance

Tune the project with the guidance from Performance and Visual Quality page. 

12. Package project

  • Download the plugin for your version of Unreal Engine from Varjo Downloads page.
  • Unzip the downloaded zip file.

  • Create a new folder in your project’s directory and name it “Plugins.”

  • Copy your unzipped plugin to the newly created folder.

  • Package your project as you usually would.
